J-98 features a cross-town rivalry game with the Valle Catholic Warriors hosting the Ste. Genevieve Dragons. Valle enters the contest with 46 consecutive victories, now the longest active streak in the nation. Head coach Judd Naeger says it’s nice, but you always have to look forward.

Valle won the last three meetings between the two squads. What does coach Naeger see from the Dragons?

Ste. Genevieve coach Ken Weik says Valle will capitalize on even the smallest mistakes…

It will be the second start at quarterback for Brandon Hinson, who took the spot after a Legion baseball injury to Wyatt Lalumandier.  Weik says he saw good things from Hinson in their opener last weekend.

The DeSoto Dragons are coming off of a 23-15 opening week win that saw them persevere as a team to grind out the victory over the Perryville Pirates. The Dragons now turn their focus to the Bishop DuBourg Cavaliers who will be visiting DeSoto after a 20-14 defeat to Lift For Life Academy. Both teams battled in a close contest last season that saw DeSoto come away with a 28-21 win at DuBourg. Dragons head coach Chris Johnson says the key for them will be to limit their mistakes…

The Dragons are getting key players Lamonte Allen, Brendan Politte, and Jordan Anderson back after they missed the week one opener and Johnson believes Allen and Anderson will make a difference offensively…

Second year head coach Brian Simmons has a youthful team that graduated 19 players and has just four seniors that represent the only returning starters on the ballclub. He says the biggest key for them in this game is to not make any mental errors….

Simmons believes the Dragons are a team that doesn’t give up…

DeSoto looks to move to 2-0 on the year while the Cavaliers seek their first victory on the 2016 campaign. The game can be heard live on AM 1400 KJFF and online on mymoinfo.com via live streaming.

The East Prairie Eagles will take to the roadways as they battle the Jefferson Blue Jays in the Week 2 J-98 WebTV “Game of the Week.” Both teams had victories in Week 1 in completely different fashions. East Prairie shut down Kelly 59-0 and Jefferson let a 20 point lead nearly slip away, hanging on to defeat Cabool 26-24. Despite the big win over Kelly, Eagles head coach Chad Jamerson knows Jefferson will be the ultimate test for his team.

Jefferson head coach Alex Rouggly shares the same respect for East Prairie and their two stud offensive players.

Even though Eagles quarterback Derez Tipler and running back Deverence Jones stand out offensively, Jamerson believes his defensive players can create some havoc for the Blue Jays as well.

One of the offensive players for the Blue Jays that East Prairie will want to keep an eye on his sophomore running back Andrew Graves.

Any way you slice it, it’s going to take a flawless effort from both teams if either of them are going to walk out of the stadium with a 2 and 0 record.
