Authorities in Jefferson County involved in early morning vehicle pursuit

(Jefferson County) Authorities in Jefferson County were involved in an early morning vehicle pursuit on Monday.

It all began around 3:20am when a Hillsboro Police Officer stopped a 2011 Chevy Impala.

As the officer was approaching the vehicle the driver took off heading eastbound on Route A.

Hillsboro police did not pursue the Impala. Dispatch notified authorities that the vehicle was confirmed stolen from the Festus area.

According to Jefferson County Sheriff’s office spokesman Grant Bissell, that’s when a deputy, who was heading westbound on Route A, intercepted the vehicle and initiated a pursuit.

Deputies along with Festus police and the Missouri State Highway Patrol began searching the area for the suspect.

The suspect is a 31-year-old man who tells authorities he is homeless.

The sheriff’s office is applying for charges of 1st Degree Tampering, and resisting or interfering with an arrest for a felony.
