AV Thanksgiving Tournament Semi-Finals End in Dramatic Fashion

(Ironton) It was an action-packed night in Arcadia Valley for the 95th Annual Thanksgiving Tournament Semi-Finals. In the first game, South Iron defeated Arcadia Valley 64-33 sparked by dominant performances by Drenin Dinkins and DJ Prater, who combined for 35 points in the matchup. The Panther’s defense hounded the Tigers all night and was able to create turnovers into points.

DJ Prater was our Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game after his 20 point performance, Coach Dusty Dinkins tells us a little bit more about his senior small forward.

The nightcap between Fredericktown and West County ended with a Blackcats buzzer-beater to win the game 48-47. West County controlled the game early and went into halftime with a seven-point lead. Bulldogs freshman Ty Harlow finished the third quarter with a steal and a bucket.

Fredericktown trailed by seven with two minutes left in the game but came up with some clutch buckets, including this one by senior Colbee Dunnahoo.

Dunnahoo missed the free throw attempt so Fredericktown quickly fouled the Bulldogs. Freshman Jaxon Campbell went to the line for a one and one but missed the attempt. Then this happened.

Junior Andrew Starkey was named the Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game finishing with 23 points and the game-winner. Blackcats head coach Joaby Sikes says Starkey is just a gamer.

The Blackcats will play South Iron in the championship game tonight (Thursday) at 8. West County and Arcadia Valley will face off in the third-place game at 6:30. Both games will be broadcast on J-98 with the Fliegs Equipment Pregame Show starting at 6:15
