(STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo.) – It was an exciting night for junior guard Gracee Smith on Thursday, as her Arcadia Valley Tigers took on the Ste. Genevieve Dragons in a girls basketball contest on Regional Radio.

AV may have lost the matchup, but Smith scored her 1000th career point in the game’s final minutes.

She says it’s something she’s been aware of in the early part of the season.

What makes the accomplishment even more impressive is that Smith was able to pull it off just five games into her junior campaign.

She’s been a varsity player since day one, meaning that she would’ve had to average roughly 16.5 points per game for her career to this point.

As for Thursday night, Smith needed 25 points to reach 1,000, and was situated at 24 near the end of the game…

The 3-pointer put Smith at 27 for the night, leading all scorers and officially making her career total 1,002.

After averaging 20 points per game last year and making the Dream Team, she’s up to around 23 so far as a junior.

Gracee tells us her confidence keeps growing.

Smith and Arcadia Valley are back in action next Thursday against Steelville in the Central Christmas Tournament at 11:30.

Tune into the quarterfinal matchup on the MyMoInfo SportStream.
