Bail reform ruling continues to bring major problems

(Hillsboro) The Missouri Supreme Court ruling on bail reform has resulted in multiple criminals committing crimes without spending any real time in jail. The ruling which went into effect in July, allows those who can’t afford bail, to be released with a simple summons to appear in court…..unless they committed a violent crime. Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Marshak says they have seen numerous problems and a series of issues just on Tuesday.

Some of the those that were taken into custody had prior arrests. Sheriff Marshak says the Missouri Supreme Court ruling is simply not working.

These issues with the same criminals committing multiple crimes have been happening all over the St. Louis region, especially in St. Louis city.
