Be a Part of 2nd Annual Ethan Bryan Memorial Golf Tournament in Terre du Lac

(Terre du Lac) September 16th, 2020 was a sad day for the West County School District in Leadwood and Frankclay.

Young Ethan Bryan had just finished high school baseball practice, but five minutes after Ethan left the ball park, the 16-year-old lost his life in a head-on traffic accident.

It was devastating for a considerable amount of time for his father Dan.

It took Dan some time, but in due course, he realized he needed healing.

A book Dan received, not long after Ethan’s passing, eventually led the elder Bryan to get back on track in a positive way and at the same time put him on a journey to tell Ethan’s story by sharing Ethan’s love of baseball.

The book titled “A Year of Playing Catch”, strangely enough written by an individual who shares his sons’ name, Ethan D. Bryan of Springfield, helped Dan begin his current journey.

Dan calls his project, Baseball Seams to Heal, where he is in the midst of playing catch with Ethan’s glove and his baseball with various individuals for 365 days.

This project has also led to scholarships that have and will be handed out to West County students, named in memory of Ethan.

To raise money for the scholarships, Dan started a golf tournament last year.

Dan invites you to join him in June for a scholarship fundraiser.

Bryan says you can still help out, even if you don’t golf or if you didn’t get registered quick enough for the tournament.

To get your team registered for the 2nd Annual Ethan Bryan Memorial Golf Tournament, on Saturday, June 18th, call John at the Terre Du Lac Pro Shop at 573-562-7091.

John can also help you out if you would like to donate to the auction.

Dan also tells us he will organize an Ethan Bryan Memorial Scholarship fundraiser cornhole tournament in the fall.

Dates for that event are still being planned.

As for Dan’s 365 days of catch, he’s nearing the halfway mark as he has now passed 160 days of catch.
