Be aware of deer in the roadways

(Missouri) This is the most common time of the year for deer strikes in Missouri. The annual rut is taking place and deer archery hunting season is in full swing, and firearms season is approaching. Corporal Juston Wheetley with the Missouri Highway Patrol says to be cautious on the roadways and although it’s not easy….try not to swerve when a deer runs across the road.

A report from State Farm Insurance ranks Missouri 15th in the country for potential deer collisions. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, there were 3,639 traffic crashes involving deer in 2020, resulting in 348 injuries and five deaths. Most deer strikes occurred at dawn and dusk in November.
