Beat the Winter Blues…Visit a Missouri State Park

(Reynolds County) Missouri state parks are great places to go for a visit during the winter.

Stan Stoneburner is a naturalist at Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park in Reynolds County.

He says the crowds you see there during the summer are not at Johnson’s Shut-Ins during the cold weather months.

Stoneburner also helps out at Taum Sauk Mountain State Park in Iron County.

He says if you are looking for a hike, Mina Sauk Falls Trail is a nice one to conquer.

Other nearby state parks you can check out this winter or anytime are Hawn State Park in Ste. Genevieve County, St. Francois State Park, just north of Bonne Terre, Washington State Park north of Potosi or Dillard Mill State Historic Site, about 5 miles west of Viburnum.

There are several other state parks or state historic sites you can also visit in southeast Missouri.
