Behind youngsters, St. Pius stymies Festus in volleyball on KJFF

(Festus) The St. Pius Lancers flexed their muscle on the volleyball court once again, but a new face lead the way.

St. Pius beat the Festus Tigers in straight sets Thursday night on KJFF.

After trailing in the early stages of the first set, the Lancers found their spark thanks to a budding first-year star.

Hannah Leftridge finished with 12 kills in her first career home game, as St. Pius took the first set 25-19.

But she showed he’s more than just a hitter.

Leftridge added 5 aces, 3 assists and a block to her line and was the Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game.

St. Pius won the final 2 sets 25-13 and 25-14.

Afterwards, the Lancers’ Shannon Leftridge was not just a happy coach; she was also a proud mom to Hannah.

Hannah Leftridge says the team’s formula for success is simple: they like playing together.

All-state senior Kennedy Lane paced the Lancers with 16 kills as St. Pius improves to 5-1-2.

Festus falls to 0-4.
