Bickering in Missouri Senate Causes Vetoed Bill by Governor to Stand

(Jefferson City) Governor Parson’s legislative vetoes will stand after a power struggle between some Missouri Senate Republicans and Conservative Caucus members.

During the Missouri Legislature’s annual veto session on Wednesday, Senate Republicans bickered for hours over a procedural matter.

Ash Grove State Senator Mike Moon attempted to make the unusual move of bringing up a bill sponsored by another Senator about a sales tax refund.

Majority Floor Leader Caleb Rowden of Columbia said taking control of another Senator’s bill is a problem.

Another bill the Missouri Legislature did not overturn would have designated 300-thousand-dollars for a program designed to fight an increase in child sex abuse in Lincoln County.
