Bicyclist from Wisconsin Injured after Being Struck by Truck in Ste. Genevieve County

(Ste. Genevieve) A bicyclist from Wisconsin was injured Wednesday in Ste. Genevieve County after being struck by a pickup truck.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Highway 61, south of Lime Kiln Road when a Ford F250 pickup truck driven by 18-year-old Gabriel Willett attempted to avoid the bicyclist, 60-year-old Robert Welling of Custer, Wisconsin.

Willett hit his brakes and swerved to the right but the truck ended up striking the rear of the bicycle and Welling.

Welling was moderately injured and was taken to Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis for treatment.
