Big Inning Propels Central Past Ste. Genevieve For Class 2 District 3 Softball Championship

(Potosi) The Central Lady Rebels won their second district championship in Spring Softball defeating Ste. Genevieve 6-0 after an offensive explosion in the second inning. The scoring started with Alexia Poppe drilling a single into left field.

Poppe would shortly score off an error and then Ella McClanahan would add to their total with an RBI of her own.

The Rebels would score three more runs off a fielder’s choice, an RBI groundout from Sydney Miles, and another infield error. Earlier in the inning, it was actually Ste. Genevieve that had an opportunity to score. The Dragons had the bases loaded with no outs, but the Rebels’ defense found a way to get out without giving up a run. Head Coach Taylor Geile says great teams find a way.

Our Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game was centerfielder Kelsie Politte who was perfect at the plate, going 3-3 with two singles, a double, and scoring a run. Central improves to 16-6 and moves on to the State Quarterfinals to face the winner of District 4. Ste. Genevieve ends their season with the most wins in program history and a record of 17-9.
