Big River Drowning Victim Identified

(Cedar Hill) The name of the man who drowned on Sunday afternoon in the Big River, near the Cedar Hill Park river access has been released.

34-year-old Kasey Schmeiderer of House Springs was last seen swimming with friends early Sunday afternoon before the group encountered a strong current, that’s when authorities say Schmeiderer was swept away from the group of friends and submerged in the water where he drowned.

The body of the victim was later recovered on Monday afternoon by local fire crews using sonar and rescue divers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
