Bixby Man Faces First Degree Murder For Allegedly Shooting & Killing Man From Boss

(Ironton) First degree murder and armed criminal action are the charges levied against a Bixby man accused of shooting and killing 51-year-old Donald Ray Barton Jr. of Boss early Monday night.

It happened on Neals Creek Road, about 3 and a half miles away from the Bixby General Store.

25-year-old Lorenzo McGee will make his first court appearance Thursday at the Iron County Courthouse in Ironton.

He’s currently being held at the Madison County Jail in Fredericktown.

McGee allegedly shot Barton in the stomach but no details have been released on why he allegedly pulled the trigger.

Barton was discovered by motorists who found him bleeding out on the gravel road southeast of the Pump Cemetery in Iron County.

He was flown to the hospital in Sullivan but it was too late.

Not long after arriving at Missouri Baptist, Barton was pronounced dead by hospital staff.

A news release from earlier in the week from the Iron County Sheriff’s Department said more information on Barton’s murder will be released as it becomes available.
