Blackwell Woman Injured in Auto Accident on New Year’s Eve in Jefferson County

(St. Louis, Mo.) A woman from Blackwell was taken to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis after being involved in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday evening in Jefferson County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the accident took place northbound on Highway 21, south of Mothershead Road, when a Pontiac Sunfire driven by 21-year-old Emma Patt of Blackwell swerved in an attempt to avoid an animal in the lane which caused the vehicle to run off the right side of the roadway.

Patt then overcorrected and returned to the roadway before crossing the center line and getting struck in the rear by a Toyota Tacoma driven by 26-year-old Mark Rodgers of St. Louis.

The Sunfire then traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck the ditch.

Patt sustained moderate injuries in the crash.
