Bob Hollman receives Distinguished Service Award from Festus R-6 Schools on Thursday
(Festus) Coming up on Thursday, former Festus R-6 teacher, coach, and athletic director Bob Hollman will receive the first-ever Distinguished Service Award. Hollman retired from Festus Schools in 2000, after starting his career in education in 1966 as an assistant football coach and middle school physical education teacher. Hollman says he was a bit surprised when he received the news.
In 1979, Hollmann was named the varsity football coach at Festus and had an incredible run with three state final four appearances with a remarkable record of 132-39, a winning percentage of .771. Hollman says there wasn’t a real secret when it came to the success the program earned….it was simply hard work and dedication.
Hollmann will be honored during the “Back to School” convocation held in the Festus R-VI Performing Arts Center on Thursday.
