Bonne Terre man injured on I-55 in Jefferson County

A pair of accidents took place on Saturday morning that injured two people. The first accident took place around 5:45 when 74-year-old Larry White was Festus was driving a 2018 GMC Terrain north on I-55 north of Route Z when he rear-ended a 2011 Ford Focus driven by 40-year-old James Nelson of Barnhart. White was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital South with minor injuries.

Around 10 minutes later, the Focus involved in the previous accident was blocking the center lane as first responders were working the scene, and it was struck by a 2009 Chevy Cobalt driven by 26-year-old Mason Cords of Bonne Terre. Cords, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital South with serious injuries.
