Bonne Terre Prison Employee Stabbed by Inmate Month Before Retirement

(Bonne Terre) Three stabbings in three days.

That’s what the Riverfront Times says has happened at the prison in Bonne Terre.

They say the latest victim is a prison employee who plans to retire in about a month from now.

Doug Montgomery has worked for over three decades for the Missouri Department of Corrections.

He was flown Monday to a St. Louis area hospital with multiple stab wounds from an inmate and reports say Montgomery should make a full recovery.

Also, stabbings between inmates apparently took place Saturday and Sunday with those two victims also expected to recover.

The weapons discovered are homemade shanks. Regional Radio reached out Monday afternoon to the state’s corrections department spokeswoman for details on Montgomery’s stabbing, but so far, she has not returned our call.
