Bonne Terre Woman Pleads Guilty to Reduced Charge in Sodomy Case

(Farmington) A Bonne Terre woman, who was facing two charges of statutory sodomy-attempted sodomy-deviate sexual intercourse with a person less than 12, has decide to plead guilty to a reduced charge and has been sentenced to prison.

Two days before Christmas, 28-year-old Shelbi Nichole Bowyer plead guilty to one count of 2nd degree sexual abuse.

She was sentenced to 360 days in jail but she does get credit for time already served as she awaited the conclusion of her case.

Reports said a girl, less than 8-years-old, told authorities she had been touched inappropriately multiple times by Bowyer.

A forensic interviewer with the Children’s Advocacy Center interviewed the child and the St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department then investigated the case in May of 2017.

The deputy leading the investigation said the child’s answers were credible and she was able to identify Bowyer as the person who molested her.
