Booker Caps Career with Second Dream Team Selection After Leading Steelville Girls to First-Ever Final Four

(Steelville) Arguably the best season in program history for the Steelville girls basketball team saw their standout senior do it all once again.

Sydney Booker helped lead the Lady Cardinals to the team’s first-ever Final Four, a 3rd Place finish, and was named to the Girls Basketball Dream Team for the second-straight year.

She says the recognition from area coaches means a lot.

The numbers were impressive for Booker this season as she averaged 20 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 2.4 steals, shot 64% from the field, and 81% from the free-throw line.

It was a bit of a rollercoaster for Steelville in Springfield as they lost the Class 3 semifinal by one point but then rallied to pull off an epic comeback victory over Tipton in the third-place game.

Booker says it was a memorable experience reaching the Final Four with her team.

While this season is considered the crown jewel, the Steelville girls have been on an incredible run throughout Booker’s tenure as the Lady Cardinals have brought home three district championships over the past four seasons.

The tremendous talent and relentless work ethic of this group were certainly the biggest factors, but Booker says she believes they would not have been as successful without the support from the Steelville faithful.

This season Booker was named All-Conference, Conference MVP, All-District, District Player of the Year, All-State, and helped lead the Lady Cardinals to a (24-7) record and a Class 3 3rd Place finish.

She also ended her career with over 1,500 points scored.
