Building of former Hillsboro Auto Parts store catches fire

(Hillsboro) Fire crews were able to extinguish a structure fire before it got out of hand at the old Hillsboro Auto Parts store located off highway 21.

Hillsboro Fire Protection District Chief Brian Gaudet says the fire was reported around 2 in the morning on February 27th when a Hillsboro police officer noticed the smell of smoke in the area.

Chief Gaudet complements the officer for her fast actions as it could have been a devastating fire if went unchecked.

According to Gaudet, Furplus City Pet Supply store in Hillsboro bought the old Hillsboro Auto Parts store building and was in the process of moving from its current location next to Subway to the building when the fire occurred.
