Byrnes Mill Police Department under investigation

(Jefferson County) The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office confirms an investigation into the Byrnes Mill Police Department after a member of the city’s legal staff discovered and reported alleged criminal violations.

Sheriff’s office spokesman Grant Bissell has more details.

Based on statements by employees to investigators, the sheriff’s office strongly recommends the city of Byrnes Mill conduct an independent internal investigation.

Again all findings in the investigation will be sent over to the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further review to see if charges will be issued.
