Campfire Safety Tips

Rangers have set a small-scale, controlled fire in a forest in Tuolumne Meadows, Yosemite National Park, to prevent wildfires from spreading.
Over half a million deer hunters will hit the woods over the coming weeks. This combined with ongoing drought conditions throughout much of the state makes campfire safety very important. Joe Jerek is with the Missouri Department of Conservation. He has some safety tips on building a campfire for deer hunters.
Jerek also touches on how driving off-road can cause fires.
Jerek also urges motorists to carry an approved fire extinguisher on off-road vehicles. Should a fire get out of control, call 911. If you come across a fire that you suspect to be caused by arson, you can call 800-392-1111.
