Cape Girardeau Summit Addresses Concerns Over Potential Large Scale Earthquakes
March 21, 2024 11:12AM CDT
The sixth annual Cape Girardeau Earthquake Summit hosted around 500 professionals yesterday (Thursday.) During that time, more than a dozen people addressed concerns about large scale earthquakes in largely populated areas, including the New Madrid Seismic Zone. The local outreach, called A Dam Problem, talked about the efforts to maintain and inspect critical facilities, as well as responses to a large earthquake. According to Earthquake Program Manager of the Missouri Emergency Management Agency Jeff Briggs, that might happen sooner than you think.
The 2024 Earthquake Summit took place at the Show Me Center at Cape Girardeau.
