Cape Notre Dame drops Perryville in district soccer title fight

The Class 2 District 1 Girls Soccer Championship match saw two top ten state ranked opponents square off as #2 Cape Notre Dame took on #10 Perryville in Cape Girardeau Tuesday afternoon, but a hard fought game saw the Bulldogs take the victory over the Pirates by a final score of 4-1. The Pirates jumped out to an early lead with the Patsy’s Furniture Play of the Game.
The lead was relatively short lived however, as Megan Heisserer (HIGH-zur) took control.
Heisserer score twice more to finish with all 4 goals as Cape Notre Dame improved to 22-1-1. The Bulldogs advance to the State Tournament where they will take Lutheran South in sectionals, while the season ends for Perryville with a record of 19-5.
