Car Crash Sends Two Gentlemen To The Hospital

(Jefferson County) A car crash in Jefferson County Thursday afternoon sent two gentlemen to the hospital. 58-year-old James Byington of Bonne Terre was traveling in the left lane on northbound US 67 in his 2016 Hyundai Elantra as he approached Montauk Drive. 75-year-old Sharyn Dinwiddie of Farmington was stopped on Montauk Drive in his 2006 Chrysler 300 and attempted to cross northbound US 67 in front of Byington. This forced Byington to hit his brakes and steer to the left to avoid hitting Dinwiddie but the front right of Byington’s car struck the front left of Dinwiddie’s car. Both vehicles began sliding and traveled off the roadway. Byington’s car struck a road sign. Dinwiddie was taken to Mercy Hospital South with moderate injuries while Byington went to Mercy Hospital Jefferson, by way of private conveyance, with minor injuries.
