Cardinals Fire Shildt

(St. Louis) First announced by the St. Louis Cardinals social media page, The Cardinals have agreed to part ways with manager Mike Shildt. President of baseball operations John Mozeliak announced that “philosophical differences” were the reasons that the parties parted ways. Shildt became the manager in July of 2018 and went 252-199 for the organization, including an NL Central Title in 2019, the same year he was named NL Manager of the Year. The Cardinals finished the 2021 season with a 90-72 record and a wildcard appearance following a team-record 17-game winning streak in the final months of the season. Shildt was heading into the final year of his contract.
