(Cedar Hill) The Cedar Hill Fire Protection District is warning anyone who swims in the Big River near the Cedar Hill Park river access to use caution while in the water.
According to Cedar Hill Fire Chief Mick Fischer, fire crews normally respond to a few incidents at the river access every summer.
Chief Fischer says the stretch of water doesn’t look very dangerous but it is.
On July 5th, a House Springs man who was swimming with a group of friends at the Cedar Hill Park river access got caught up in a strong current before being submerged underwater where he drowned.
The body of the victim was recovered later the next day by local fire crews using sonar and divers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
