Central Boys Finish as Class 4 Runners Up

(Springfield) The Central boys history making basketball season concluded Friday as the state runners up as the Rebels fell in the Class 4 state title game 64-37 to Vashon. Central battled one of the true state giants as the Wolverines claim their 14th state title and six in the last eight years. Vashon built the lead to 18 in the first half, but Central closed the first half on a 7-0 run to make it an 11 point game at the half, 33-22. Vashon pushed the lead to 20 in the third at 48-28 and extended it to 29 in the 4th.

Jobe Bryant led Central with 13 points and five rebounds, the only Rebel to notch double figures. Central shot only 31% from the field. Vashon shot 54%.
The second place finish is the best in program history for the 28-4 Rebels. They finished 3rd in their only other final four appearance in 1976. Vashon started the year at 7-7. They close the year at 25-7 and on an 18 game winning streak.
