Central hands Valle Catholic first loss, rolls 72-43

The Central Rebels rolled to a 72-43 win Friday night over Valle Catholic and handed the Warriors their first loss of the season.

After trailing 9-6 early, the Rebels went on a 21-5 run to take the lead for good.

That included a 14-0 run to start the second quarter powered by senior forward Breven McMullen.

Central led 37-16 at halftime and kept on rolling in the second half thanks to the Applebee’s Player of the Game.

Brent Wagner scored 16 of his 25 points in the second half.
Rebels head coach Allen Davis said his group seems to finally be finding its rhythm after back-to-back losses in the Gene Stieghorst Invitational.

Valle Catholic, now 4-1, is off until they host Kingston in the Winter Warrior Classic on Thursday.
Central improves to 4-2 and will next take on Potosi Friday in the first round of their annual Bob Sechrest Jr. Christmas Tournament.
