Central Looks for First Final Four vs St. Mary’s on J-98

(Park Hills) Six times the Central football team has been to the state quarterfinals and all six times the Rebels were turned away in their bid for football’s final four. Tonight they get a 7th shot against the number one ranked team in Class Three, the St. Mary’s Dragons. Both teams have been impressive throughout the year. 10-1 and 7th ranked Central dropped its only game of the year in the 59-52 shootout with MICDS, who is ranked 2nd and playing in the quarters of Class 4. (9-1) St. Mary’s also has only one blemish, a five point loss to a Class 8 power from Illinois. Last week St. Mary’s took down Valle Catholic in a battle of one versus two. That told Central coach Kory Schweiss all he needed to know…

The Dragons are loaded with nationally ranked talent, but Schweiss says they aren’t just all flash. They’ve got substance…

The Rebels are loaded with talent as well. St. Mary’s coach Ken Turner had this to say about senior Dayshawn Welch and the rest of the Central team.

Coach Schweiss says this is a great opportunity for his team…

It’s Class Three state quarterfinal football Friday on J-98 when the #1 St. Mary’s Dragons visit Park Hills to take on #7 Central. We’ll have it on J-98 the Boot starting with the Fliegs Equipment Pregame Show at 6:30.
