Central Secures MAAA Boys’ Championship

In the resumption of the MAAA conference tournament boys’ championship game, Central dominated from the start and cruised to an 80-55 win over Ste. Genevieve. The Rebels entered the day leading 33-17 and only expanded on that lead. Jobe Bryant led Central with 25 points.

Colin McMullen continued his hot three-point shooting off the bench to knock down three triples.

After the game, Central head coach Brad Gross praised the way his team managed the unusual scheduling.

Ste. Genevieve head coach Rob Coleman acknowledged his team’s shortcomings, but made sure to praise the opposing performance as well.

The game was also notable for the play of Ste. Genevieve’s Ricky Hunter, whose collapse on the bench last Saturday caused the game to be postponed to today. Hunter did not miss any games and in fact became Ste. Genevieve’s all-time leading scorer earlier this week. He finished today’s game with 25 points. He said he was glad to be able to return to the court so quickly.

Central improves to 22-2 while Ste. Genevieve drops to 18-6.
