Central stymied by St. James in girls’ hoops state quarterfinal

(Hillsboro) The Central Rebels had their girls’ basketball season end with a 43-32 defeat to St. James in the Class 4 state quarterfinals Saturday on KREI.

Central hung tough early thanks to sophomore guard Khloe Dischbein.

But when the Rebels lacked for offense the rest of the way, St. James took advantage, stretching their lead to 11 at halftime and never looking back.

Head coach Josh Mapes said his team still gave it their all.

Central finishes the season with a record of 21-6.

The Rebels won their 4th straight district championship this season and made the state quarterfinals for the second straight year.
