(PARK HILLS, Mo.) – The Central Rebels are the champions of the MAAA Volleyball Tournament after a hard fought title match with the Arcadia Valley Tigers as heard on the MyMoInfo SportsStream. Arcadia Valley led most of the first set, but they were denied the set point four times by the Rebels, and Central’s persistence paid off.

The Tigers took set 2 25-17, but the Rebels countered back, controlling most of the third set and hanging on 25-21 to clinch the title. Rebels coach Tracie Casey says they sought out to achieve the goal of a conference title and reached it.

While Arcadia Valley falls to 22-10-1, Central is now 29-3-2. In the third-place match, the Valle Catholic Warriors knocked off North County in 3 sets. Valle jumped out in front by claiming the first set 25-19, but the Raiders prevailed in the second set 25-22. In the decisive third frame, the majority of the set was ruled by Valle.

Warriors head coach Nancy Fischer was pleased with how the night ended.

Valle Catholic ends the regular season with a record of 24-6-1, while North County falls to 15-16. In the semifinals, AV got revenge for their loss earlier this season to Valle Catholic by winning Thursday evening in 3 sets. Central also needed 3 sets to win in the semifinals, knocking off North County 25-19 in the first set but losing an epic second set 31-29 before claiming the match in the third set 25-14. All 4 teams are now off until district tournament play begins next week.
