Central; Valle Catholic Advance to Class 2 District 2 Softball Championship
(STE. GENEVIEVE) The Class 2 District 2 Softball Tournament Semifinals in Ste. Genevieve brought two high scoring games. The first was a thrilling 15-7 win for the four-seed Central Lady Rebels against top-seed Ste. Genevieve. The Dragons opened scoring with a one-run homer, which would set the tone for the rest of the game. Central’s Sydney Miles sent two over the fence to give the Lady Rebels a 7-1 lead, but Chloe Staffen had an answer for the Dragons in the fifth.

That home run would spark a six run rally, which would leave the game tied at 7 after five.  Central would regain the lead in the sixth, but Kelsie Politte delivered the dagger for the Lady Rebels in the seventh.

Rebels manager Taylor Geile says her team kept their cool in the face of adversity.

The Lady Rebels will face Valle Catholic in Wednesday’s championship. The Lady Warriors knocked off the sis-seed Woodland Lady Cardinals, 14-1 in 5 innings.  The Lady Warriors got their bats going early.

Joggerst’s triple made the score 2-0 after the first inning.  An eight run third inning by the Lady Warriors helped them cruise to a win. Valle Catholic pitcher Abree  Zipprich is expecting a great matchup in the district championship with Central.

Manager Kurt Basler talked about preaching patience for the Warriors, who drew 14 walks in the win.

Valle Catholic will face Central Wednesday afternoon for the district crown.  We’ll have coverage beginning at 3:45, with first pitch set for 4 on AM 800 KREI.
