(PARK HILLS, Mo.) – In about as incredible of a high school volleyball match as you can ask for, the Central Rebels defended homecourt Thursday night against the Arcadia Valley Tigers, winning 22-25, 25-23, and 26-24 on the MyMoInfo SportStream.

The opening set saw the Rebels keep Arcadia Valley at arms length for much of the first, but on the strength of Dream Teamer and junior middle hitter Maddie DeMent, the Tigers found themselves tied after this kill.

Arcadia Valley went on to claim the first by three points, 25-22.

AV was able to ride that momentum into the second, as they led 23-16, needing just two points to win the match in a sweep.

What came next though was a breathtaking comeback by the Rebels, as Central scored 9 straight points thanks to the hard serving of junior outside hitter Liberty Coleman.

Here was the point to tie it at 23.

After a 25-23 win in set two for the Rebels, the match went to a decisive 3rd set.As Arcadia Valley did in set two, the Rebels were able to ride the high of a set victory into the final frame.

However, at 20-14, AV began to chip away and ended up taking the lead 24-23 with a chance at match point.

Their serve went long, and Central scored two more points to take the thriller, capped off by an ace from senior defensive specialist Buckli Moss.

The 2-1 victory for Central saw junior outside hitter Lizi Marler earn Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game honors.

Central head coach Tracie Casey says the match was saved in the second set when her team’s serving kept Arcadia Valley out of system and Maddie DeMent in the back row.

With the win, Central improves to 10-1-2 and has Jackson at home on Monday.

Arcadia Valley falls to 10-4 in defeat and will face both Bloomfield and Malden on Saturday before returning home Monday against Farmington.
