The Central Rebels took home the MAAA Softball Conference Tournament Championship by defeating West County 6-5 Wednesday night as heard on J-98. The Rebels jumped out in front by as many as five runs but the Bulldogs would rally in the sixth to cut the deficit to one.

Central shut the door on West County in the top of the 7th to hold on for the victory to extend their winning streak to 10 games. Rebels head coach Brian Wallen says that a rigorous late-season schedule will have his team poised for a deep postseason run.

Central is now 16-5 on the year while West County drops to 10-6.

The Potosi Trojans took home third place in the MAAA Softball Conference Tournament after defeating Ste Genevieve 12-0 due to mercy rule in the fifth inning. With Potosi up 9-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Chelsea Charboneau strode the plate with two runners on and came up with the Gilster Mary Drive of the Game to give the Trojans the victory.

Potosi head coach Tyler Beers says he was pleased with his team’s approach at the plate after being held in check offensively in their first loss of the season on Tuesday.

Potosi moves to 15-1 on the season while Ste Genevieve falls to 12-6.
