Central’s Hassell named Applebee’s of Farmington Athlete of the Week

(Park Hills) Central Rebels junior Austin Hassell is the Applebee’s of Farmington Athlete of the Week.

After missing last season because of injury, Hassell announced his return to wrestling with authority, winning the championship at 120 pounds during last weekend’s Tiger Classic in Cape Girardeau.

Rebels head coach Scott Aholt says it was a remarkable performance given the journey Hassell has made to get back on the mat.

Hassell was a qualifier for the 2020 state championships as a freshman.

He finished 6-0 at the Tiger Classic with 2 pins.

As Athlete of the Week, he receives a T-shirt, a certificate and a coupon for a free entree at Applebee’s in Farmington.
