Central’s Sophia Horton Named Girls Basketball Dream Team Player of the Year for Second Consecutive Season

(Park Hills, Mo.) For the second consecutive season, Sophia Horton of the Central Rebels has been named the Regional Radio Dream Team Girls Basketball Player of the Year.

Horton says it means a lot to her to earn Player of the Year honors in back-to-back seasons and credits the support system around her for the achievement.

While Horton’s talent on the basketball court is apparent, it may be her approach to the game that puts her at the top of the heap.

She says she treats every game like a business trip.

Horton helped lead the Rebels to a 22-6 record and a District Championship in her junior year this past season.

She says playing for Central feels like having a second family with how close the teammates and coaches are.

This season Horton averaged 20 points per game, 8 rebounds, and was named MAAA 1st Team All-Conference and Class 4 All-District.
