(PARK HILLS) The boys finals in the Central Christmas Tournament are set after South Iron and Central emerged victorious last night on J-98.

In the first semifinal match-up, the top-seeded South Iron Panthers dominated the fifth-seeded North County Raiders by a final of 77-40. Brock Wakefield was our Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game, scoring 16 of his 22 points in the first half.

The Central Rebels beat the Hillsboro Hawks with a final score of 58-44 in the last game of the semi-finals of the Central Christmas tourney. The Rebels went on a 14-3 run to end the game with this Drew Hamski bucket to get it going.

The Central Rebels and South Iron Panthers will play for the championship at 7:30 on J-98.

Before the boys play, the girls championship game will see the third-seeded Ste. Genevieve Dragons face the fourth-seeded Steelville Cardinals.

For Ste. Gen, a 54-36 opening round win against Potosi was followed up by a 52-40 upset of second-seeded South Iron in the semis. Dragons head coach Jordanna Walk-Robison is pumped to be in this position.

For Steelville, their two victories in the tourney come by a combined 6 points. The Cardinals defeated fifth-seeded Arcadia Valley 59-57 in round one, then the top-seeded Central Rebels in overtime 57-53.

Steelville head coach Seth Collins knows it won’t get any easier now.

Steelville and Ste. Genevieve will tip-off the Central Christmas Girls Championship around 6 tonight on J-98.

The boys 3rd place game will take place beforehand as North County and Hillsboro go at 4:30 on J-98. Raiders head coach Jimmy Palmer was disappointed in his bunch after their loss to South Iron and hopes that his message to them afterward sinks in.

Hillsboro Hawks head coach Dan Johnson expects the Raiders to be at their best and to give his guys fits.

North County and Hillsboro are expected to tip-off in the boys 3rd place game at 4:30.
