Chance of winter weather increasing later this week

(Jefferson County) The likelihood of seeing winter weather later this week is increasing across eastern Missouri.

Melissa Byrd is a Meteorologist with the National Weather Service in St. Louis.

She says a southern tracked storm system will once again bring the threat of winter precipitation to the region.

Outside of the snowfall potential, the system will bring dangerously cold temperatures.

The wind chill could drop below -20 degrees Thursday night into Friday morning.

The colder temperatures with the arctic airmass is expected to remain in place through the Christmas holiday weekend.
