Changes to MSHSAA By-Laws Opens Door to Possibility of Spring Sports Exhibitions This Summer

(Farmington, Mo.) MSHSAA released a statement last week outlining several changes to their by-laws for the summer of 2020 that will give schools leniency when it comes to holding practices and having contact with student athletes.

Perhaps the most significant change by the MSHSAA Board of Directors is to allow seniors to be viewed as enrolled students through the summer which will allow them to represent their high schools in summertime interscholastic competition.

MSHSAA Communications Director Jason West says this gives graduating seniors the opportunity to finish their careers by playing exhibition games with their school this summer.

While it would be ideal to give seniors a chance at some closure by allowing them to take the field with their teammates this summer, West says there are still plenty of logistical hurdles to clear to get there.

Regardless, West remains optimistic and says MSHSAA is looking forward to the possibilities that this summer may hold.
