Children car seat safety

A lot of children spend a great deal of time in a vehicle and it is important to know how to keep them safe to avoid injuries or worse. Now that school is about to be let out for the summer, more and more kids may be traveling with their families for trips and vacations. Josh Hemmelman is a Deputy Chief with the Rock Township Ambulance District. He says it’s very important for parents to know everything that can concerning child car seats for young children.

Hemmelman says there are a lot of things to keep in mind when installing a car or booster seat.

According to the U.S Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, motor vehicle crashes at the leading killer of children ages 1 to 13, and nearly half of those children are unrestrained. Several local ambulance districts are available to schedule inspections and installation of car seats by simply giving them a call.
