Cities Pushing for Internet Sales Tax

(Crystal City) As people continue to shop during the holiday season, whether that be in-person shopping or online, cities throughout Jefferson County and the state continue to call on government officials to implement an internet sales tax.

Crystal City City Administrator Jason Eisenbies says they are concerned about sales tax revenue from local shops amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Even with the cities concerned with sales tax revenue this holiday season, Eisenbeis mentions Crystal City’s sales tax return is holding steady.

The state of Missouri is one of just a few states remaining that do not charge local or state sales taxes on internet sales on websites like Amazon.
