City of Festus finalizes budget

(Festus) The City of Festus finalized its budget for the next fiscal year. The Festus city council gave final approval of the budget at their Monday night meeting. Festus City Administrator Greg Camp says the budget includes a lot of replacement of city vehicles and future improvements.

Camp says the budget also allocates 850-thousand dollars to replace an aging pumper truck for the fire department.

Other items for the fire department include a breathing air compressor, new turnout gear, and lifting jacks. The police department will be getting new car body cameras, license plate readers, and FLOCK cameras. The budget also includes items for the parks department with a new skid loader and playground equipment at Sunset Park. Also new vehicles for both the street department and water/sewer department. The new Festus city budget which begins on Friday is just shy of 30 million dollars.
