(Perryville) The Missouri Department of Conservation has awarded $366,446 to several Missouri communities through its Tree Resource Improvement and Maintenance grant program.
These grants offer cost-share funding for government agencies, schools and nonprofit groups to manage, improve or conserve trees on public lands.
The City of Perryville was the only local recipient of these funds.
They received 10-thousand dollars for removal, education and planting.
Many of this year’s grant recipients will use this funding to conduct tree inventories, which are a critical first step in managing community forests.
