Coleman carries DeSoto to series sweep of Hillsboro

(Hillsboro) The DeSoto Dragons started conference play with a bang, sweeping their series with the Hillsboro Hawks by scoring a 6-1 victory Friday on KJFF.

DeSoto started out slow, but the Dragons offense woke up and put up all 7 of their hits in the final 4 innings.

But DeSoto was not going to need much offense, because senior pitcher Caleb Coleman was dialed in from the start.

In a complete-game win, Coleman allowed 6 hits and recorded 8 strikeouts.

Dragons head coach Matt Buechting said the Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game responded from early-season injury issues with authority.

DeSoto not only starts conference play 2-0 but improves to 3-4 overall.

Hillsboro falls to 2-6 overall and 0-2 in the JCAA Large-School Division.
