(Jefferson County) COMTREA’s Mary House of Hope at A Safe Place got a big boost in funding recently.

COMTREA applied for a matching grant earlier this year to help support funding for the transitional housing project from J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation.

However, according to terms and conditions from the Mabee Foundation, to receive the $300,000 grant, COMTREA would have to raise $1.2 million dollars by the end of this year.

COMTREA CEO Sue Curfman says not only have they already met the challenge grant, they exceeded the goal by more than $22,000.

Curfman says COMTREA is also asking for the public’s help in winning a $10,000 security system for Mary’s House of Hope at a Safe Place.

COMTREA is hopeful that the next housing unit of Mary’s House of Hope at a Safe Place is open by the spring of 2020.
