(Farmington) The annual Farm Tour of Missouri’s 8th Congressional District is underway for Congressman Jason Smith of Salem.
He didn’t start the tour.
Smith says the congressman who held the position from 1981 to 1996 got this farm tour started.
Smith is referring to Bill Emerson.
After his death in 96, his widow Joann Emerson became Congresswoman for the 8th.
Smith was elected to the position in 2013 after Joann resigned to take a job in the public sector.
Smith’s farm tour made a stop in Farmington Thursday.
The congressman then paid a visit to a Jefferson County winery on Thursday.
Congressman Smith’s Farm Tour of Missouri’s 8th Congressional District will last until September.
