Conkright Scores Second Dream Team Nod in First Season with North County

(Bonne Terre) New school, new team, same lights-out shooting, fiery competitor.

After transferring from Ellington to North County this year, Kyle Conkright once again garnered the respect of area coaches as he accomplished the rare feat of being named to the Boys Basketball Dream Team with two different teams.

His second-straight selection to the Dream Team comes on the heels of an incredible season with the Raiders that saw them win their first district title since 1995 and win their first state playoff game in program history.

Conkright says it was a lot of fun to make a deep playoff run.

This year Conkright averaged 21 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals per game, shot 40% from beyond the arc and 80% from the free-throw line.

Despite the staggering numbers, far too often the word “undersized” is thrown around the Raiders’ stat-sheet stuffing guard.

Conkright says he has always viewed his size as a positive and that the doubters just add fuel to the fire.

Even though Conkright only spent one season on the hardwood in Bonne Terre, the fans and community embraced him as if he were a lifelong Raider.

He says the support from the North County faithful left a lasting impression on him.

Conkright capped his career with more than 1,500 points and earned his third-straight All-Conference and All-District selections this season while helping lead the Raiders to a (24-2) record and a Class 5 sectional crown.
